Here's the detailed 2-day itinerary for Amritsar:

Day 1: More Heritage, Leisure, and Local Flavors

 

  • Reach Amritsar by 10 A.M. and check-in to the hotel by 12 P.M.

Afternoon:

  • Have lunch at a local restaurant like Kesar Da Dhaba, known for its rich Punjabi food such as dal makhani and tandoori roti. (Lunch cost not included in the package. )

  • We will visit the local markets like Hall Bazaar and Katra Jaimal Singh Market for traditional Punjabi items like phulkari embroidery, juttis (footwear), and brassware.

Evening:

  • Visit Gobindgarh fort and enjoy a light and sound show there.

  • For dinner, we will go the the famous Bharawan Da Dhaba for traditional Punjabi dishes like dal, butter chicken, and an array of tandoori items.

Day 2: Exploring Amritsar’s Spiritual and Cultural Heart

 

Morning:

 

  • Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) We will start early to witness the morning prayers and the peaceful atmosphere of the Golden Temple. Spend time walking around the serene Amrit Sarovar (holy pool) and experience the spiritual aura. Tip: Remember to dress modestly and cover your head before entering the temple.

  • After visiting the Golden Temple, we will head to Jallianwala Bagh. This historic site commemorates the tragic 1919 massacre where British forces opened fire on unarmed Indian civilians.

Afternoon:

  • Lunch: Enjoy a simple, free meal served at the Golden Temple’s Langar. This community kitchen serves thousands of visitors daily.

  • After lunch, we will head to the Wagah Border, located about 28 km from the city center. The Wagah Border ceremony is a popular attraction, where the soldiers of India and Pakistan perform a daily flag-lowering ceremony with great enthusiasm. Arrive early to secure a good spot for the ceremony, which usually starts around sunset.

Evening:

  • Post-Wagah Border visit the Partition Museum in the city to understand the impact of the 1947 partition on the region. The museum is a poignant recounting of the separation of India and Pakistan.

  • Dinner(cost not included) and drop to the hotel.

Day 3:

 

Have breakfast and say good bye to Amritsar and your tour buddies and take happy memories with you to cherish forever. You will be dropped to airport/railway station/bus stop.
